Leonna Mayor joins Racing to School’s team of ambassadors

Racing to School is delighted to announce TV presenter and former Flat jockey Leonna Mayor as an ambassador in support of the charity’s work inspiring young people. Leonna is a regular face on ITV Racing and Sky Sports Racing, and recently managed Team Yorkshire in the 2023 Racing League, for which Racing to School is charity partner.

“I’m thrilled to become an ambassador for the education charity Racing To School. I didn’t particularly enjoy school and wasn’t from a horsey background but was lucky enough to gain an apprenticeship in the racing industry at the age of 16, which opened new doors for me and ultimately led me to my media career.

“I was particularly drawn to the charity when I experienced first-hand some of their work at Great Yarmouth Racecourse. The charity works with schools, colleges and community groups to inspire young people from all backgrounds including those with special educational needs and those from inner city and deprived areas by creating positive learning experiences.

“I hope that I can play a small part in supporting them, getting to spend time with the young people and sharing with them my passion for horses and racing.”

Racing to School Chief Executive John Blake added: “Leonna’s journey into an unknown world of racing will be very relatable to many of our beneficiaries. We’re excited that she’s joining the team and hope to tap into her infectious enthusiasm for horses and the sport. The charity is fortunate to have a generous group of ambassadors who all help the charity in numerous ways.”
