Future champions get to hone their skills on Champions Day

Racing to School was delighted to be part of Ascot’s Jockey School on Champions Day.

Programme Manager Ollie McPhail took along two of the new Racing Foundation-funded equicisers. In total there were eight race simulators on offer to budding jockeys from the Pony Club, with representatives from the British Racing School helped by a group of Pony Racing Authority Ambassadors.

The young riders were given tuition on the different riding techniques used by Racing Grooms and jockeys.

“It was great to see so many keen riders inspired by the brilliant racing and wanting to improve their style and skills,” said Ollie.

“The day was a great success with the three organisations working together and with many of the young people experiencing racing for the first time. The Careers in Racing team were also on hand with helpful advice and information about future opportunities in the sport.
