All-Party Parliamentary Group to support Racing to School

The education charity Racing to School is delighted to be announced as the beneficiary of this year’s All-Party Parliamentary Group on Racing and Bloodstock Charity Dinner, which is due to take place in the House of Commons on Thursday 4th July 2019.

This popular annual event brings together influential figures from the racing, bloodstock and gambling industries, with MP members of the All-Party group, all in the name of raising awareness and funds for a racing-related charity. The event comprises of a champagne reception, a full three- course meal in an historic setting. There is also an auction of top prizes, with proceeds going toward the work of Racing to School with young people, which is aiming to reach a record of almost 15,000 participants this year.

Racing to School delivers free outdoor learning activities for young people at racecourses, studs and trainers’ yards across the country – with the aim of enriching curriculum-focused learning, while at the same time, introducing them to the sport of horseracing. At present, the charity works with approximately 250 primary and secondary schools and delivers over 370 events each year.

Racing to School Chief Executive, John Blake, said: “We are so thankful to the All Party Group, in particular MPs Laurence Robertson and Conor McGinn for giving us this opportunity. We are the smallest charity working across and for the sport and are totally reliant on charitable donations to continue delivering our free programmes, so this marquee event can make a huge impact to our work with young people this year.”

The sport of horseracing has a huge socioeconomic impact on the country, both through employment opportunities, revenue generated and the key charitable organisations that give back to their local communities. Charities such as Racing Welfare and the Injured Jockeys Fund have benefited from the generosity of the All-Party Charity Dinner in the recent past.
